Obama, Clinton, Biden, Gates Watching the News Development of Osama Bin Laden in Situation Room Picture

Barack Obama, flanked by Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and US counterterrorism chiefs, watched the killing of Osama bin Laden live from the White House situation room.

On Sunday afternoon President Barack Obama and his closest advisors gathered to remotely monitor the daring raid that killed the world's most wanted man. They may have been watching a feed from a camera mounted on the helmet of one of the US SEALS who carried out the operation.
John Brennan, the US counterterrorism chief, said Mr Obama arrived after many of the mission's leaders had assembled there, but the president joined before the attack on bin Laden's mansion in Abbottabad, Pakistan, began.
Reports have suggested that Mr Obama saw the moment when Osama bin Laden was shot in the left eye.
"We were able to monitor on a real-time basis the progress of the operation, from its commencement, to its time on target, to the extraction of the remains," Mr Brennan said. "We were able to have regular updates to ensure that we had real-time visibility into the progress of the operation."
The footage of the battle in Bin Laden's Pakistani hideout was relayed to the White House by satellite. But details on how the group were able to see the live action unfolding 7,000 miles away have not been released.
